Program
The ESMUC in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut presents a project that has led to the creation of three pieces of radiophonic theatre based on texts by German writers and young composers in the art of sound and electroacoustic music.Der Klang des Südens is a project that contains three Hörspiele pieces (radiophonic theatre), based on original texts by German writers. The music is by young composers in the art of sound and electroacoustic music. Based on the sound landscapes recorded in the three cities involved in the project (Barcelona, Genoa and Lisbon). The three writers (Judith Kuckart for Barcelona, Nora Gomringer for Genoa and Juli Zeh for Lisbon) used the sound landscapes as the only source of inspiration to create the texts which, having been translated into Catalan, Italian and Portuguese, were recorded by professional actors. Their voices, together with the sounds of the cities, form the basis upon which the music for each Hörspiel is developed. As a result, sounds from southern Germany return to the south in text form which is then retransformed into sound and music.
