Program
PROGRAMIrrepressibly creative, Liesa van der Aa is one of today’s most versatile artists. Active in the worlds of music, television, cinema and theatre, her musical output draws on the avant-garde, soundscapes and rock. The release in February 2020 of the recording Easy Alice and the film I Can’t Go Back to Yesterday galvanised the Belgian art scene. Easy Alice can be seen as a kaleidoscopic encounter between Kafka, Lewis Carroll and Britney Spears, PJ Harvey and Eminem, Bill Withers and Missy Elliot.
The pieces by Christopher Trapani and Larry Polansky rewrite popular American music through a microtone prism that alienates and distorts the original sources, following in the footsteps of Harry Partch and Lou Harrison.
