Program
EL COR CANTA, in keeping with its commitment to Catalan culture, has the pleasure of premièring and presenting three works by composers from Catalonia: the venerated Albert Guinovart; the rising star Gerard López; and Àngel Pérez, a young ESMUC student. The work “Visions i Cants” (Visions and Songs) by Àngel Pérez Ortega, First Prize winner in the Category of Young Composers, based on the poems “La nostra bandera” (Our Flag), ”Cant de novembre” (Song of November), “L’ànima de les flors” (The Soul of Flowers) and ”Cant dels joves” (Song of Young People) from the book “Visions i Cants” (Visions and Songs) by Joan Maragall (1860-1911).
They will then perform the work “Camí de sol” (Path of the Sun) by Gerard López Boada, First Prize winner in the Category of Professional Composers, based on the poems “Les Formigues” (The Ants) and “Ara no es fa, però jo encara ho faria” (It’s No Longer Done, But I’d Still Do It) by Joan Salvat-Papasseit (1894-1924).
The second part will feature Albert Guinovart’s “Gloria” (Glory), a work commissioned by El Cor Canta, written especially for them and premièred last season but which will be presented with a new orchestration.
With Elisenda Carrasco and Eva Martinez directing EL COR CANTA and the Terrassa 48 Chamber Orchestra.
