pROGRAM
Music and poetry are two art forms that have engaged in many forms of dialogue over the centuries, and Catalonia is no exception. The National Youth Choir of Catalonia gives us an insight into this inter-disciplinary dialogue in a programme of works that set poems by Catalan poets born between the middle of the nineteenth century and the first third of the twentieth to music. From the raw, light landscape of Comiat de l’ànima (Farewell of the Soul) we move on to the contrast of Les quatre estacions (The Four Seasons); and from the phantasmagorical El Comte Arnau with its mythological undertones to the amusing and unusual collection El Bestiari (Bestiary), and the surprising, ironic L’home parat (The Motionless Man). The concert concept is the work of artist Perejaume, who has chosen the texts that will be read between songs and has designed the set.
