Program
Mallorcan percussionist and composer Joan Pérez-Villegas and his ensemble, an unusual instrumental group that shines with a light of its own, invite us to discover a soundscape in many shades of blue. It features a broken blue in Algorritme I, a pictorial blue, inspired by a work by Miquel Barceló, in Blau Salvatge, and a deep-rooted blue in Joc de Dames. There is also a sporadic blue, based on a technique used by Jackson Pollock, in Dues Pinzellades, Dripping, a luminous blue that is a tribute to Darcy James, in Vaivé, and a textured blue, in Floorislava. The album synthesises the composer’s experiences in Barcelona, introducing the artist and acting as a statement of intent on how music can be understood and experienced.
