KamBrass Quintet
program
The Barcelona-based KamBrass Quintet will present a programme comprising two canonical pieces for this line-up and three more with a Mediterranean flavour. They will be playing Mini Overture, a short but characteristic piece byWitold Lutosławski, which is full of changes in beat and plays with the instruments’ texture and timbre, and Brass Quintet No. 1by Victor Ewald, who for many years was considered the first to write works for this instrumental ensemble. The programme will continue with “Andaluza”, a flamenco-influenced piece and one of the Dotze danses espanyoles (Twelve Spanish Dances) by Lleida-born composer Enric Granados, and the more serious, stately Courante “Catalonia” from Isaac Albéniz’s Suite española. The programme ends with a work written for brass quintet by Pilar Jurado, which reflects her impressions of the Adrian Lyne film “Jacob’s Ladder”.
