pROGRAM
Through a fusion of flamenco, jazz and electronic music, pianist and composer Miranda Fernández presents her opera prima: a tribute to the brave, determined women who played a fundamental role in the development of a musical genre that came into existence among the gipsy communities of Andalusia in the eighteenth century and has since been declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. It is a project designed to raise awareness of a series of artists who had to overcome “discrimination and social coercion in isolation” and dedicated to them as the “inspiration, art and light that guides us”. Accompanied by cantaora and electronic performer Cristina López and percussionist Lucas Balbo, Miranda Fernández combines tradition and modernity in an intimate performance.
