The songs of the mayorales or pabordesses of the Roser brotherhood accompanied by panderos or square drums were present in many towns in Catalonia. The lyrics turned the table runners of weddings, baptisms, mass singers and major festivals into an oracle with a woman's voice in which the relationships of the community were woven. The money they obtained from this female conquest of the scene was used to cover the expenses of the festival of the Virgin of Roser.

The drum, completely painted with sacred images and decorated with ribbons and bells, is the most significant and spectacular object that remains from that activity. Since the end of the 19th century, some folklorists have been quick to pick up the crumbs of a festive world that was ending. Now, with this exhibition at the Museu de la Música, we want to make known the world that the witnesses of the last majorales evoked.
