Program

Beethoven’s five masterpieces for piano and orchestra, performed over a single weekend by ‎Rudolf Buchbinder. The Austrian pianist and conductor had already achieved this great feat ‎with the OBC in 2015: the audience filled the L’Auditori, applauding it wholeheartedly, and ‎the critics were astounded, with comments such as “Precise, clean, exact, forceful, ‎seductive” (El País), “Apotheosis at L’Auditori. Spectacular marathon” (El Periódico) and ‎‎“Classic, elegant, brilliant rendition” (Núvol).‎These five all-time jewels of the piano repertoire allow us to grasp the evolution of ‎Beethoven’s language and how, concert after concert, he increasingly and better exploited ‎the interpretative possibilities of an instrument that he himself helped to evolve. Performing ‎all five in just three days is a challenge that very few artists are capable of rising to: ‎Buchbinder is back.‎
