Program

Percussion quartet Frames and string ensemble Funktion – playing as a quartet on this occasion – present a selection of works by Alvin Lucier (New Hampshire, 1931) for various instrumental and electronic devices, illustrating the American artist’s exploration of auditory perception and the physical properties of sound through different acoustic and psychoacoustic phenomena: the phase interference between close tones, the reverberation and resonance of acoustic spaces and the emission and manipulation of sounds with electronic means, all recurring elements in his production.
