Sit Back invites singer-songwriter Joana Serrat to present her latest album, Dripping Springs.Vic-born Joana Serrat is, undoubtedly, the most international Catalan singer-songwriter of the moment.
Dripping Springs (Great Canyon Records/Loose, 2017) is her fourth album in five years. It was recorded in the eponymous city in Texas in the ranch-studio owned by singer-songwriter Israel Nash, who also produced the album.
Once again, Serrat uses folk principles to continue to create her own language while developing and reinforcing her more ‘American’ side.
This is her best, most complete, most well-rounded album. It is a work in which the artist’s virtues are enhanced exponentially: the composition and performance, her personality and that intangible and captivating aura that it gives off. It is a work that revolves around farewells, imbued with an optimistic nostalgia, a melancholy that does not isolate or shut out the spirit. An expression of freedom in the vital commitment to the aim of making dreams come true.
