Program
The first of Mahler’s symphonies to be performed in Barcelona (conducted by Pau Casals, in 1924) and the first in history that includes a single solo voice accompanying the orchestra. Along with some prestigious guests to perform a new work by Héctor Parra. The Ensemble Intercontemporain de Paris is the most important contemporary music group in the world. It has just celebrated its 40th anniversary and is visiting the OBC to interpret a work by Barcelona-born Héctor Parra. Mahler was surprised by the poetry in the collection of old songs Des Knaben Wunderhorn (The Boy’s Magic Horn). For 20 years he worked on various fragments of the book and transformed them into songs and symphonic works. Kazushi Ono wants to perform all the works Mahler wrote regarding this “Wunderhorn” world. He started this last year and now brings us Symphony No. 4.
