Program
The jazz super-group formed by pianist Marco Mezquida, saxophonist Ernesto Aurignac and drummer Ramon Prats is, without any doubt, one of the most exciting bands on the Spanish jazz scene. In their first work, entitled M·A·P (2016), the trio demonstrated how deep and unconditional listening can be a powerful tool in the creative process. MAP will be joining the Barcelona Symphony Band at MAP & SYMPHONIC BAND to add a new dimension to their repertoire. Through Ernesto Aurignac’s arrangements, the trio’s music travels to new sound universes bathed in symphonic sounds, coloured by the intensity of the big band and filled with popular aromas. In this new context, the MAP’s three musicians are forced to redefine the relationships they establish on the stage and to adapt to a large ensemble with whom to explore new timbric and textural dimensions.
