Program
María José Llergo has come to shake things up. Just two songs and a video on YouTube secured her a place in the line-up for the last Primavera Sound festival, and she’ll soon be gracing the concert hall of L’Auditori with an album hot off the press, eager to show us that tradition and modernity do go hand in hand.
Llergo brings us a style of flamenco which, like that of her ancestors, is cathartic and invokes the deepest feelings, those which hurt and heal at the same time. She dresses it up with modern attire ranging from rap to electronic, indie and jazz. María José Llergo’s singing joins that of visionaries such as El Niño de Elche and Rosalía: music to be enjoyed without preconceptions and approached with an open mind.
