Program
The OBC season completes the cycle of Bartok’s stage works with The Wooden Prince, a ballet that enjoyed immediate success from the day of its premiere in 1917. A prince, a princess and a fairy star in a work laden with symbolism – a reflection on the work of art and the role of the artist – with a diverse range of music, from the playful spirit at the beginning to the loving passion at the end, as well as the marvellous grotesque dance performed by the wooden puppet. The music of Ramon Humet, the season’s guest composer, returns to the lecterns of the OBC: Gagaku is a work premiered by the same orchestra in 2009, which reflects the oriental influence in its musical conception. The programme includes a visit by Kian Soltani, one of the young Austrian talents with the greatest international renown since he was selected by Daniel Barenboim as soloist of the Divan orchestra.
