As part of the 450th anniversary of the birth of Claudio Monteverdi, the L’Auditori presents the Vespro della Beata Vergine in a version by the Capella Reial de Catalunya and Le Concert des Nations under the baton of Jordi Savall.As part of the 450th anniversary of the birth of Claudio Monteverdi, the L’Auditori presents the Vespro della Beata Vergine in a version by the Capella Reial de Catalunya and Hespèrion XXI under the baton of Jordi Savall. The work was composed in 1610, a few years before its author was appointed maestro di cappella at St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice, for which it appears that the polychoral idea for this religious service was conceived. This major milestone in Baroque religious music will be rounded off with Bach’s Passions.
