Program
Enrique Morente and the legendary jazz drummer Max Roach, met with their musicians for a week, playing day and night in Las Navezuelas, in Cazalla de Sierra (Seville), to generate a new work, commissioned by the then director of the Biennial of Flamenco, José Luis Ortiz Nuevo. The piece premiered at the 1992 Biennial, in a unique and exceptional concert due to its complexity and transgressive will.L’Auditori de Barcelona, the Taller de Músics and the ESMUC have now joined forces to pay tribute to these two great figures in music and make possible the new show Morente & Roach in memoriam directed by David Leiva and with the collaboration of David Albet.
Morente & Roach in memoriam inspires the meeting of the two artists, but it is not a simple recreation. Each member of the group contributes their musicality and ideas to contribute to a new and unique end result. A journey that will lead the audience on paths full of surprises and emotions between different musical genres, where the music itself is the common thread, always in motion and transformation.
