Cary Grant being chased by that small plane, strafing him with machine-gun fire as it approaches, but he manages to dodge the bullets! This is possibly the most famous scene in North by Northwest, an Alfred Hitchcock classic with music by the great Bernard Herrmann. Produced in 1959, between Vertigo and Psycho, the film was an immediate box-office success and was nominated for three Oscar awards. The music for the film is one of Herrmann’s most acclaimed scores.Bernard Herrmann had written the music for which many consider to be the best film in the history of cinema: Citizen Kane, by Orson Welles (1941). However, his collaboration with Hitchcock did not come until 15 years later. This duo of geniuses created seven masterpieces together, and the OBC will be performing one of these, which is undoubtedly one of the best.
