The Tast d’Orquestra cycle gives you a fresh perspective on symphony orchestras. It is a unique experience that creates a dialogue between music and the performing arts and turns musical discovery into a more enriching and stimulating experience. With the Tast d’Orquestra you can enjoy a selection of key works from the history of music performed by the OBC in an abridged concert format and be amazed by the theatrical production, loosely inspired by the day’s programme, performed by the company Indi Gest before the concert.

From the darkness of the catacombs to the liveliness of a market, with picturesque scenes such as the troubadour in front of “The Old Castle” or children playing in the “Tuileries” garden, to the majestic arrival at the final destination (“The Great Gate of Kiev”), Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition takes us on a musical journey through fantasy worlds which blur the borders between reality and fiction.

Composed for solo piano in 1874, a version for orchestra was produced by Maurice Ravel almost fifty years later. The colours of the pictures are effectively captured by the instruments that make up the orchestra, presenting a narrative without words that has a theatrical quality. The Indi Gest theatre company will prepare us for this sensory experience.
