Programme
Trumpeter and composer Pacho Flores, accompanied by Leo Rondón on the Venezuelan cuatro, will play a prominent part in a concert that includes the premiere of the band version of his highly acclaimed Cantos y revueltas, a composition in which classical music interacts with folk melodies with delightful spontaneity, while incorporating jazz and even samba rhythms. The work has been performed in leading concert halls and recorded on the Deutsche Grammophon label. Before that, we will hear his Albares, Concerto for Flugelhorn, also adapted for band. The programme includes two other works that will undoubtedly draw audiences, first the world premiere of Barcelona 1925 by Eduardo Betes, and then the famous symphonic poem Death and Transfiguration by Richard Strauss, in a striking version for the Barcelona Symphonic Band.
