Program

We pay homage to William Shakespeare on the 400th anniversary of his death with this wonderful version of Henry Purcell’s The Fairy-Queen, inspired by the great dramatist’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (1594). This dramatic opera in English allows us to rediscover the beauty and emotional power of Shakespeare’s language and share in the deepest and most subtle of human experiences.
