Program
Scottish guitarist Sean Shibe believes that “the guitar is to the lute what the piano is to the harpsichord”. He takes seventeenth-century manuscripts collected from stately homes and remodels them, applying an informed but critical and politically aware approach. This approach is then applied to our own musical tradition, in Frederic Mompou’s Suite Compostelana in six movements: “Preludio”, “Coral”, “Cuna”, “Recitativo”, “Canción” and “Muñeira”, based on Galician folk songs. The recital will end with a new piece by English composer Thomas Adès.
