Program

The war was a recurring theme in the works of Shostakovich, but in his Symphony No. 13 he went a step further: he criticised the atrocities of the Nazis, but also Russian anti-Semitism and bureaucratic hypocrisy, while paying tribute to women and all those who die without a tombstone. Naturally, the work was banned.
