Programme
Ensemble 0 performs Open Symmetry, by American composer Tristan Perich. The work, commissioned by 0 and the Swedish group Eklekto, is written for three vibraphones and twenty loudspeakers through which one-bit electronic sound is played. The result is a piece with a post-minimalist aesthetic, influenced by masters such as Steve Reich, Philip Glass and David Lang.
Open Symmetry uses captivating, hypnotic rhythms to create a space where the audience can lose themselves amidst the sounds of acoustic percussion instruments and low-definition electronics. It is a fascinating sound experience that invites the audience to enter a perceptual state close to ecstasy.
