Program
The Associació Messies Participatiu presents this summer concert in which nearly 300 singers will perform two of the most important pieces from the repertoires of Vivaldi and Charpentier.Antonio Vivaldi composed Gloria when he was 22 years old. It is an icon among his religious works, notable for its force and vitality, especially the joyful chorus in the overture. Lost for over 200 years, this piece was rediscovered in the 1920s and performed once again in Siena in 1939. Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s Te Deum has to be one of this prolific, multi-faceted Baroque French composer’s best known works. The prelude to this work is familiar to many people, as it has been used as the opening theme music for the Eurovision Song Contest. The concert will end with Johann Adolf Hasse’s Symphony in G minor, which is dedicated to all those who have suffered the effects of COVID-19.
