Program
We invite Vox Luminis, one of Europe’s most acclaimed vocal ensembles, to present this programme that will permit us an insight into the impact the thoughts of Luther had on music and how this sounded in his time. Although still relatively unknown in Spain, Vox Luminis is one of Europe’s leading vocal ensembles.Founded in 2004 and directed by Lionel Meunier, the ensemble performs more than 60 concerts a year around the world with a repertoire that includes Italian, English and German music from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. Their albums have received acclaim from international critics, as demonstrated by the International Classical Music Award and the Gramophone Recording of the Year 2012 Prize for their recording of the music of Heinrich Schütz. Under the title The Reformation, in 2016 Vox Luminis recorded a double album to commemorate 500 years since the start of the Protestant Reformation. This work, part of which we can enjoy in the concert, will permit us an insight into the impact the thoughts of Luther had on music and how this sounded in his time. It is a glimpse of how Lutheran composers wrote music for the different ecclesiastical services and how they changed the liturgy of the Catholic Church.
