The impossible-to-classify Australian trio The Necks, with their unique language drawing on jazz, minimalism and improvised abstract music, will be appearing at L’Auditori, as will one of the most nuanced and unpredictable composers of American improvised music, Tyshawn Sorey and his trio. Brad Mehldau visits us again with a programme dedicated to Gabriel Fauré. His latest album, released in 2024, commemorates the centenary of the French composer’s death. Catalan performer Ramon Prats, whose music shuns technological ornamentation and the endless possibilities of the artificial, will present Solot, and Barry Guy, Mats Gustafsson, and pianist Jordina Millà will offer a concert of free improvisation. We will have another opportunity to enjoy the great chemistry between Chicuelo and Marco Mezquida, while Astrio, who have been delighting audiences with their distinctive style for over two decades, are back with a new album. And the now traditional jazz marathon also forms an integral part of the season.
